Thoughts from Chairman Codric - June 1999 Ottoman scholars and lovers of cricket alike will welcome the formation of the Ottoman Cricket Society. New members are welcome, whether active or passive, living or dead. ***** Most of us are sick and tired with the politics of recent years with its smarmy spin doctoring and seedy business links. What we yearn for is the whiff of stern governance and to this end we commend the British Government in Exile, representing those who feel disenfranchised by the present system. Membership is by no means limited to UK nationals and is open to all those fighting for a Better Britain within a Better World **** Management consultants are not known for their warmth or sentimental attachments to people no longer generating fees to fuel their avarice. However in our charitable work we have come across one wretched specimen now living in loneliness and abject poverty who in his delirium keeps muttering the word "Ely". In going through his papers we came across some scribblings which could shed some light on his downfall. Anyone who knows anything about Elionora please contact us so that we can perhaps put the poor fellow out of his misery. **** Ecommerce is all the rage these days. We have been at it for 25 years but you would expect us to be well ahead of the game wouldn't you? Our first system linked London, New York and Johannesburg in an arbitrage dealing operation. Yes, we too had to look up "arbitrage" in the dictionary. **** Our research has moved on since then. Man will some day conquer the solar system, travel the galaxies and perhaps enter new universes. But not until we have completed our symbiosis with machines and networked our combined resources. A new species of man is under development, which will supersede but not necessarily replace homo sapiens. See New Man, but more of this next month. **** IWant to be a zillionaire? Invest a small amount in an 'Internet stock' and you will probably lose it. But you just might be lucky and never have to work, or even think again.
